“When I was a new manager, I wish I learned more theory about managing people and psychology behind being an effective manager. As a manager, I have learned that it is impossible to accommodate every single request, however, all of them should be heard. Respect the feedback from your coworkers and value their voice and they will reciprocate.
I was able to grow as a manager by observing both effective and very ineffective managers (actually, bad examples provided plenty of teachable moments!)
To be a successful manager, I think it is important that you prioritize support and service while giving guidance and direction. Exercise recognizing your coworkers’ strengths while delegating tasks to them.”
