“I was able to grow as a manager by learning from some of my previous managers. They pushed me to try new tasks and made me feel like my comments were important. When I started in the role of manager, I was by myself for a long period of time, and I needed to work on how to manage my time. I needed to choose what priorities were the most important to me. When I was a coordinator, I learned some tasks managers were in charge of, so I felt I was a more prepared to complete some tasks and responsibilities. I had also been a coordinator with 3 different mangers, and I was able to figure out which qualities I liked from each of them, I learned strategies from my coworkers like time management, Excel spreadsheets, creating flyers. And the most important strategy of how to be with the students in program and how to talk with the kids in positive ways.”
